10th Integrating Cities Conference

The conference "Inclusion for all, Empowering vulnerable migrants in cities" will take place on 16-17 November 2022 in Utrecht. This high-level event is organised within the framework of Eurocities project CONNECTION “CONNEcting Cities Towards Integration action”.

The war in Ukraine and the large numbers of Ukrainian refugees arriving in the EU once again highlighted the essential role that cities play in receiving vulnerable people in need of protection. The Conference aims to support cities' efforts as well as offer an opportunity for multi-level dialogue with representatives from EU institutions, international and non-governmental organisations, academics, refugee and migrant communities. The Conference will include high-level panel debates and interactive workshops, with experts providing guidance about vulnerable situations that migrants can find themselves in. The Conference will also feature a hands-on training by Integration Champions. These are experienced city officials working as ‘integration ambassadors’ and helping other municipalities to develop policies on the four themes explored by CONNECTION (integration strategies, migrant women, integration into the labour market and one-stop-shops).

Alongside the publication of the 5th Integrating Cities Report (previous report available here), the event will also be a chance to celebrate the new signatory municipalities of the Integrating Cities Charter. They will join other 42 signatories which have already pledged to provide equal opportunities for all residents, integrate migrants, and embrace diversity.

Important Information : During the registration process, we will ask you to choose the workshops, training and site visit you would like to attend. This is on a first-come, first-served basis. You can see more information in the detailed programme here.

Access to the venue: The venue Jaarbeurs is located in Utrecht, Netherlands. For your information there are direct trains from Amsterdam main airport (Schiphol) to Utrecht Central every 15 minutes that only takes 30 minutes. When you will reach Utrecht Central station you will be 4 min walk from the event place Jaarbeurs which is just in front of the station.
