The Open Source Fellowship

The Open Source Fellowship (OSF) supports emerging developers across neurodiverse identities, increasing their experience and skills in open-source technology and nonprofit technology application development. Over the next 15 months, OSF will host in-person events, launch online full-stack development courses and a professional certificate. The program also includes a 1-year paid fellowship enabling neurodiverse technologists to contribute to open source products aimed at social impact. We are also creating a larger community of technologists and employers with a shared understanding of neurodiversity and how best to leverage its unique potential in the workplace and in solving shared community challenges. How can open source technology support nonprofit, government, and community service providers that need technology to streamline their operations and increase social impact?

This community program is organized by NTEN, Fuse Change, Liminal Labs and with collaborating partners Technology Association of Oregon, and PIE.

The Open Source Fellowship includes various ways to get involved, including:

  1. In-person events in Portland, OR, bringing together technologists and employers interested in neurodiversity and tech for good.
  2. Self-paced online courses about open-source technology and development
  3. One-year paid fellowship for five individuals to build an open-source solution for nonprofits

If you'd like to lend your support to the program, we would love your support with:

  1. Sourcing event speakers and panelists
  2. Hosting event spaces for meetups
  3. Sponsoring food and beverages at events
  4. Offering mentorship or coaching to participants
  5. Contributing to open-source development projects on local social impact challenges
